Objectively invalid; regarded as preoccupied by Gobius ophiocephalus Pallas 1814 [regarded as same as ophicephalus, Art. 58 of the Code], replaced by and objective synonym of Ophiogobius jenynsi Hoese 1976. •Wrongly treated as valid as Ophiogobius ophicephalus (Jenyns 1842) -- (López et al. 1996:55 [ref. 23681]). 1°Homonym.
