Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:355 [ref. 29155]. •Synonym of Pseudopimelodus zungaro (Humboldt 1833) -- (Burgess 1989:276 [ref. 12860]). •Questionably a synonym of Pseudopimelodus charus (Valenciennes 1840) -- (Grant 1999:51 [ref. 24295]). •Valid as Pseudopimelodus pulcher (Boulenger 1887) -- (Ovchynnyk 1967:35 [ref. 37559], Ortega & Vari 1986:15 [ref. 9708], Shibatta in Reis et al. 2003:404 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:355 [ref. 29155], Barriga Salazar 2014:113 [ref. 35745]). •Valid as Rhyacoglanis pulcher (Boulenger 1887) -- (Shibatta & Vari 2017:14 [ref. 35359], Meza-Vargas et al. 2021:24 [ref. 39298], Shibatta et al. 2021:10 [ref. 38876], Chuctaya et al. 2023:3 [ref. 40387]). Current status: Valid as Rhyacoglanis pulcher (Boulenger 1887). Pseudopimelodidae: Pseudopimelodinae. Distribution: South America: upper Amazon River basin (Brazil, Ecuador and Peru). Habitat: freshwater.
