Syntypes: ZSM [old collection] (5) destroyed in WWII. Type catalog: Neumann 2006:282 [ref. 28925], Ferraris 2007:423 [ref. 29155]. Originally appeared as above, but later changed to "Pygidium (Trychomycterus Val.) quechuorum nob." when illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1902:137, Pl. 4 (figs. 3-3a) [ref. 10435]. •Synonym of Trichomycterus rivulatus Valenciennes 1846 -- (Burgess 1989:323 [ref. 12860], de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:284 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:423 [ref. 29155]). •Valid as Trichomycterus quechuorum (Steindachner 1900) -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:16 [ref. 9708], Fernández & Chuquihuamaní 2007:55 [ref. 29320]). Current status: Valid as Trichomycterus quechuorum (Steindachner 1900). Trichomycteridae: Trichomycterinae. Distribution: Chile River, Peru. Habitat: freshwater.
