Type catalog: Bertin & Estève 1948:75 [ref. 19574]. •Synonym of Rhodeus sericeus (Pallas 1776) -- (Berg 1949:814 [ref. 20661], Holčík 1999:2 [ref. 24847]). •Synonym of Rhodeus amarus (Bloch 1782) -- (Kottelat 1997:75 [ref. 22952]). •Valid as Rhodeus meridionalis Karaman 1924 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:84 [ref. 29996], Barbieri et al. 2015:61 [ref. 35029], Dyldin & Orlov 2016:663 [ref. 34853], Li et al. 2020:[14] [ref. 37372]). Current status: Valid as Rhodeus meridionalis Karaman 1924. Acheilognathidae. Distribution: Aegean Sea basin, Balkan, southern Europe. Habitat: freshwater.
