conirostris, Pimelodus Valenciennes [A.] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1840:204, Pl. 436 [Histoire naturelle des poissons v. 15; ref. 1008] Rio São Francisco, Brazil. Holotype (unique): MNHN A-9413 (mounted). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:428 [ref. 29155]. Appeared first in Cuvier 1829:294 [ref. 995] as, "Il y en a aussi à museau allongé (2), et même pointu et presque sans dents. (3)" and "(3) Pim. conirostris, N." This judges to have sufficient characterization, then species dates to 1829 (Ferraris 2007:428 [ref. 29155]). Occurred in more detail in Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1840:204, Pl.436 [ref. 1008]. Probably in a separate family. •Valid as Conorhynchos conirostris (Cuvier 1829) -- (Ferraris 2007:428 [ref. 29155] but family unassigned). •Valid as Conorhynchos conirostris (Cuvier 1829) -- (Burgess 1989:281 [ref. 12860] as Conorhynchus, Britski 2001:20 [ref. 26046] as Conorhynchus, Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:254 [ref. 27061] as incertae sedis in Siluriformes, Reis et al. 2016:14 [ref. 34496] as Conorhynchus, Silva et al. 2020:12 [ref. 37809], Grant 2021:57 [ref. 38702]). Current status: Valid as Conorhynchos conirostris (Valenciennes 1840). Distribution: South America: São Francisco River basin (Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
