Lectotype: BMNH 1935.6.14.1321. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1935.6.14.1322-1323 (2). Lectotype selected by Eccles & Trewavas 1989:218 [ref. 13547]. •Valid as Maravichromis semipalatus (Trewavas 1935) -- (Eccles & Trewavas 1989:217 [ref. 13547], Maréchal 1991:257 [ref. 20944]). •Synonym of Mylochromis melanonotus (Regan 1922) -- (Turner & Howarth 2001:206 [ref. 25642], Konings 2016:339 [ref. 34521]). •Valid as Mylochromis semipalatus (Trewavas 1935) -- (Snoeks & Hanssens 2004:288 [ref. 28117]). Current status: Valid as Mylochromis semipalatus (Trewavas 1935). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Lake Malawi. Habitat: freshwater.
