Type catalog: Hutchins & Smith 1991:40 [ref. 19335], Moore et al. 2008:44 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Papillogobius punctatus Gill & Miller 1990 -- (Gill 1993:177 [ref. 21981], Hutchins 2001:43 [ref. 25847]). •Valid as Favonigobius punctatus (Gill & Miller 1990) -- (Hutchins 2001:43 [ref. 25847], Hoese & Larson 2006:1650 [ref. 29097], Parenti 2021:155 [ref. 38603]). Current status: Valid as Favonigobius punctatus (Gill & Miller 1990). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Southeastern Indian Ocean: Swan River estuary (Western Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
