A) [Indo-Pacific Fishes No. 17; ref. 7000] Coral surge channel about 100 yards off western side of Raphael, Cargados Carajos Shoal, southwestern Indian Ocean, 16°26'S, 59°36'E, depth 0-7.6 meters. Holotype: USNM 227873. Paratypes: BPBM 20615 (6); SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 1966 [ex 74-99] (1), 22306 (1). Type catalog: Springer et al. 1991:19 [ref. 18888]. •Valid as Cirripectes randalli Williams 1988 -- (Fricke 1999:475 [ref. 24106], Fricke et al. 2009:95 [ref. 30213], Patzner et al. 2009:451 [ref. 30396], Arndt & Fricke 2019:12 [ref. 36883], Williams & Springer 2022:344 [ref. 39951], Couëdel et al. 2023:3 [ref. 40137]). Current status: Valid as Cirripectes randalli Williams 1988. Blenniidae: Salariinae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: Saint Brandon's Shoals (Cargados Carajos) and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius). Habitat: marine.
