Holotype: FMRI F98/682. Paratypes: FMRI F98/682 (15). Locality of holotype not specified. Holotype apparently not separated from other types, but designated as 155 mm SL female. •Valid as Leiognathus striatus James & Badrudeen 1991 -- (Chakrabarty & Sparks 2008:3 [ref. 29788], Chakrabarty et al. 2008:158 [ref. 32414], Abraham et al. 2011:2 [ref. 31311] with second author as Badruddin). •Valid as Aurigequula striata (James & Badrudeen 1991) -- (Chakrabarty & Sparks 2022:417 [ref. 39869]). Current status: Valid as Aurigequula striata (James & Badrudeen 1991). Leiognathidae: Leiognathinae. Distribution: Indian Ocean: Gulf of Mannar (southern India) and Sri Lanka; Singapore. Habitat: marine.
