Based on literature and specimens. •Valid as Nibea chui Trewavas 1971 -- (Trewavas 1977:377 [ref. 4459], Talwar 1995:82 [ref. 25194], Sasaki in Randall & Lim 2000:621 [ref. 25122], Lo et al. 2017:11 [ref. 35288], Parenti 2020:32 [ref. 37439]). Current status: Valid as Nibea chui Trewavas 1971. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Northwestern Pacific: South China Sea coast of China to Japan. Habitat: marine.
