Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:24 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon capricornis Allen & Randall 1993 -- (Allen 1997:108 [ref. 23977], Kuiter 1997:144 [ref. 25488], Randall et al. 1997:507 [ref. 25919], Allen 1999:2605 [ref. 24812], Johnson 1999:732 [ref. 25471], Laboute & Grandperrin 2000:212 [ref. 25191], Allen et al. 2006:1084 [ref. 29004]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus capricornis (Allen & Randall 1993) -- (Randall 2005:203 [ref. 28239], Mabuchi et al. 2014:199 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:86 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus capricornis (Allen & Randall 1993). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: southern Queensland to northern New South Wales (Australia). Habitat: marine.
