Holotype (unique): QM I.878 [not AMS I.465]. Apparently described independently from (and preoccupied by) Equula longispinis Valenciennes 1835, replaced by Leiognathus hastatus Ogilby 1912. Objectively invalid. The holotype is QM I.878 and not AMS I.465 as given by Whitley 1932:107 [ref. 4675]. •Synonym of Leiognathus leuciscus (Günther 1860) -- (Jones 1985:590 [ref. 21842]). •Synonym of Equulites leuciscus (Günther 1860) -- (Suzuki & Kimura 2023:29 [ref. 40749]). 1°Homonym.
