Type catalog: Moore et al. 2008:25 [ref. 30117]. •Valid as Apogon ocellicaudus Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994 -- (Allen 1997:110 [ref. 23977], Allen 1999:2606 [ref. 24812], Allen 2000:100 [ref. 25868], Allen & Randall 2002:119 [ref. 26188], Allen & Adrim 2003:35 [ref. 26830]). •Valid as Ostorhinchus ocellicaudus (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994) -- (Allen & Erdmann 2012:401 [ref. 31980], Fraser 2012:82 [ref. 32177], Mabuchi et al. 2014:200 [ref. 33426], Kuiter & Kozawa 2019:98 [ref. 36965]). Current status: Valid as Ostorhinchus ocellicaudus (Allen, Kuiter & Randall 1994). Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: Indonesia east to Fiji, south to northeastern Australia. Habitat: marine.
