Current status: Valid as Argyrosomus inodorus Griffiths & Heemstra 1995. Sciaenidae. Distribution: Southeastern Atlantic, southwestern Indian Ocean: Namibia to Cape of Good Hope (South Africa), then north to Eastern Cape (South Africa). Habitat: brackish, marine.
