Original genus should have been Vanmanenia. •Synonym of Vanmanenia pingchowensis (Fang 1935) -- (Zheng et al. 1989:246 [ref. 21202], Zheng in Pan et al. 1991:267 [ref. 23876], Chen & Tang in Yue 2000:456 [ref. 25272], Kottelat 2012:72 [ref. 32367]). •Valid as Vanmanenia polylepis Pan, Liu & Zheng 1983 -- (Yi et al. 2014:94 [ref. 33322], Kottelat 2017:94 [ref. 35488], Li et al. 2019:128 [ref. 36698], Deng & Zhang 2020:122 [ref. 37670]). Current status: Valid as Vanmanenia polylepis Pan, Liu & Zheng 1983. Gastromyzontidae. Distribution: East Asia: Pearl River basin, Guangdong Province (southern China). Habitat: freshwater.
