No types known. Apparently the first available treatment of Eperlanus schonfoldii of Rutty 1772. Neotype designated by Fricke 1999:30 [ref. 24101], but withdrawn in Fricke 2000:639 [ref. 24537]. •Synonym of Osmerus eperlanus (Linnaeus 1758) -- (Kottelat 1997:96 [ref. 22952]). •Synonym of Osmerus eperlanus (Linnaeus 1758), but a valid subspecies schonfoldi McAllister 1984 as described -- (Fricke 1999:29 [ref. 24101]). •Possibly a valid species -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:348 [ref. 29996]). Current status: Synonym of Osmerus eperlanus (Linnaeus 1758). Osmeridae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
