gamberur, Hemiramphus Rüppell [W. P. E. S.] 1837:74 [Neue Wirbelthiere zu der Fauna von Abyssinien gehörig. Fische des Rothen Meeres; ref. 3844] Massawa, Eritrea, Red Sea. Syntypes: RMNH 4342 (1); SMF 699 (1), both from Red Sea. RMNH 4342 was designated as neotype by Parin et al. (1980 [ref. 6895]), but that designation was set aside because of the existence of an additional syntype at SMF. •Valid as Hyporhamphus gamberur (Rüppell 1837) -- (Parin et al. 1980:73 [ref. 6895], Dor 1984:63 [ref. 29757], Goren & Dor 1994:16 [ref. 25356], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S100 [ref. 27377], Collette 2004:7 [ref. 27583], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[16] 254 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:42 [ref. 36273], Collette 2022:367 [ref. 39718]). Current status: Valid as Hyporhamphus gamberur (Rüppell 1837). Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Red Sea; northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden. Habitat: marine.
