argus, Squalus Bancroft [E. N.] 1830:82 [Zoological Journal, London v. 5 (art. 18) (for July 1829); ref. 15972] Jamaica. Holotype (unique): Whereabouts unknown [ex Zool. Soc.]. Apparently not available; no distinguishing features were presented by Bancroft, but they were by Bennett in an accompanying article [ref. 20813] beginning, "The shark, numbered 4, ..." However, Bennett did not treat the species as valid. •In the synonymy Ginglymostoma cirratum (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Compagno 1984:205 [ref. 6474], Compagno 2001:192 [ref. 26323]). Nomen Nudum. Current status: Synonym of Ginglymostoma cirratum (Bonnaterre 1788). Ginglymostomatidae.
