Appeared first in Vishwanath 2002:16 [ref. 28194] without designation of a holotype. •Apparently a synonym of Puntius meingangbii Arunkumar & Tombi Singh 2003 -- (Kullander & Fang 2005:297 [ref. 28193]). •Synonym of Puntius meinganbii Arunkumar & Tombi Singh 2003 -- (Kullander & Britz 2008:62 [ref. 29861]). •Valid as Puntius bizonatus Vishwanath & Laisram 2004 -- (Shantakumar & Vishwanath 2006:2279 [ref. 28676], Knight et al. 2012:2414 [ref. 31841]). •Synonym of Pethia meingangbii (Arunkumar & Tombi Singh 2003) -- (Kottelat 2013:141 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Synonym of Pethia meingangbii (Arunkumar & Tombi Singh 2003). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Lokchao River, Moreh, Yu River drainage, Manipur, India. Habitat: freshwater.
