Holotype (unique): lost. Based on same specimen as Squalus licha Bonaterre 1788. Gmelin 1789:1503 [ref. 18139] confused the type locality with the Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada; the actual locality is near Bayonne, France (see Kullander 2016:113 [ref. 34147]). •Synonym of Scymnorhinus licha (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Krefft & Tortonese 1973:46 [ref. 7165]). •Synonym of Dalatias licha (Bonnaterre 1788) -- (Compagno 1984:63 [ref. 6474], Compagno 2001:58 [ref. 26323], Castro 2011:142 [ref. 31457]).
