G.] & Loureiro [M.] 2008:150, Figs. 2-3 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 157; ref. 29736] Río Cebollatí in Paso de Averías, close to bridge of Ruta 14, 33°36'49"S, 54°19'50"W, Merín-Patos System, Departamento Rocha, Uruguay. Holotype: ZVC P 6482. Paratypes: AI 225 (1), 224 (1); ANSP 54060 (1), 187381 (3); MHNM 3217 (1); NRM 48001 (4); ZVC-P-6483 (5), P-6484 (1). Plus a non-type skeleton. Type catalog: Loureiro et al. 2016:412, 414 [ref. 35150]. •Valid as Pimelodus pintado Azpelicueta, Lundberg & Loureiro 2008 -- (Ribeiro et al. 2011:128 [ref. 31238], Litz & Koerber 2014:19 [ref. 33622], Bertaco et al. 2016:420 [ref. 34561], Nión et al. 2016:34 [ref. 35565], Costa e Silva et al. 2018:106 [ref. 35734], Giora & Wingert 2023:98 [ref. 41026], Loureiro et al. 2023:136 [ref. 40506]). Current status: Valid as Pimelodus pintado Azpelicueta, Lundberg & Loureiro 2008. Pimelodidae. Distribution: South America: rivers draining into Laguna Merín, Laguna dos Patos system (Uruguay). Habitat: freshwater.
