Holotype (unique): MCZ 1008-S. Type catalog: Hartel & Dingerkus 1997:xlvi [ref. 23119]. Two eggs (MCZ 3357 and 3359) questionably referred and are therefore not types. •Valid as Raja badia Garman 1899 -- (Zorzi & Anderson 1988:89 [ref. 11866], McAllister 1990:35 [ref. 14674], McEachran in Fischer et al. 1995:776 [ref. 22829], Castro-Aguirre & Espinosa Pérez 1996:35 [ref. 22793]). •Valid as Amblyraja badia (Garman 1899) -- (McEachran & Dunn 1998:286 [ref. 23312], Compagno 1999:490 [ref. 25589], Nakabo 2000:171 [ref. 25086], Nakabo 2002:171 [ref. 26001], Love et al. 2005:10 [ref. 37547], Dyldin 2015:68 [ref. 34524], Del Moral-Flores et al. 2016:111 [ref. 34398], Ebert et al. 2017:59 [ref. 35618], Ehemann et al. 2018:25 [ref. 36194], Burton & Lea 2019:31 [ref. 37205], González-Acosta et al. 2021:7 [ref. 38361]). •Synonym of Amblyraja hyperborea (Collett 1879) -- (Last et al. 2016:18 [ref. 34941]).
