Paratypes: NMNZ P.18068 (1), P.20235 (1), P.20236 (1), P.21272 (1), P. 24155 (1), P.24161 (1), P.24255 (1), P.25805 (1), P.25806 (1), P.36790 (1), P.37858 (1), P.38679 (1); SIO 07-164 [ex NMNZ P.28793] (1); USNM 391143 [ex NMNZ P.28700] (1). Plus one non-type specimen. •Synonym of Pseudoscopelus altipinnis Parr 1933 -- (Prokofiev 2011:707 [ref. 31701]). •Valid as Pseudoscopelus paxtoni Melo 2010 -- (Melo & Stewart 2015:1456 [ref. 34290]). Current status: Valid as Pseudoscopelus paxtoni Melo 2010. Chiasmodontidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: Australia, Chatham Islands to New Zealand [if valid]. Habitat: marine.
