Holotype: SMF 19424 [ex TAU [= SMNHTAU] 6585]. Paratypes: SMF 19425-26 (3, 2); TAU [= SMNHTAU] 9018 (3), 9019 (1, stained), 9020-22 (2, 1, 4). •Valid as Opua elati (Goren 1984) -- (Randall & Goren 1993:17 [ref. 21131], Goren & Dor 1994:65 [ref. 25356], Iwata et al. 1998:117 [ref. 23379], Hutchins 2001:43 [ref. 25847]). •Valid as Hazeus elati (Goren 1984) -- (Hoese & Larson 2006:1659 [ref. 29097], Engin et al. 2018:322 [ref. 36014], Golani & Fricke 2018:156 [ref. 36273], Parenti 2021:183 [ref. 38603], Larson 2022:103 [ref. 39971], Bogorodsky & Goren 2023:16 [ref. 40247]). Current status: Valid as Hazeus elati (Goren 1984). Gobiidae: Gobiinae. Distribution: Red Sea; northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden. Habitat: marine.
