Current status: Valid as Sebastes melanosema Lea & Fitch 1979. Scorpaenidae: Sebastinae. Distribution: Northeastern Pacific: central Oregon (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of central Baja California (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
