J.] 1977:18, Pl. 3; Fig. 2 (E, F) [Occasional Papers of the Museum of Zoology University of Michigan No. 679; ref. 7230] Nyika Bay, northern Nkumbula Island, 2 kilometers north of Mpulungu, Lake Tanganyika, Africa, 8°38'S, 31°09'E, depth to 5 meters. Holotype: UMMZ 199957. Paratypes: MRAC 76-4-P-259 (1), UMMZ 199958 (54, 1 c&s). •Valid as Neolamprologus prochilus (Bailey & Stewart 1977) -- (Maréchal & Poll 1991:289 [ref. 20946], Schelly et al. 2003:3 [ref. 27431], Konings 2015:143 [ref. 34660], Konings 2019:150 [ref. 36983]). Current status: Valid as Neolamprologus prochilus (Bailey & Stewart 1977). Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae. Distribution: Eastern Africa: Zambian shore of Lake Tanganyika. Habitat: freshwater.
