J.] 1984:1008 [Copeia 1984 (no. 4); ref. 17429] Replacement name for Otolithus (Gadus) tenuis Koken 1891, secondarily preoccupied by Gadus tenuis Mitchill 1814 in Urophycis and in Phycis of authors. Kokin's name was based on a fossil species described from the Miocene. •Wrongly regarded as valid, assuming perhaps that musicki is a replacement for tenuis Mitchill [which it is not] -- (McAllister 1990:120 [ref. 14674]). •In the synonymy of Phycis tenuis (Mitchill 1814) -- (Cohen & Lavenberg 1984:1008 [ref. 17429]). •Synonym of Urophycis tenuis (Mitchill 1814).
