X v. 1; ref. 2787] [In Mediterraneo] (erroneous, is Brazil). Holotype (unique): NRM 7 from Brazil. Type catalog: Fernholm & Wheeler 1983:253-254 [ref. 20707]. Opinion 1954 in June 2000 established that bimaculatus is the type species of Cichlasoma and bimaculatus is a species of cichlid fishes.
