Appeared first as above, then in Sykes 1839:56 [ref. 4306]; more complete treatment in Sykes 1841:356, Pl. 61 (fig. 4) [ref. 18868]. Knight et al. 2014:280 [ref. 34128] named a neotype and another specimen as the lectotype (missing), an error; the neotype is hereby selected. Another neotype selected by Arunachalam et al. 2016:5 [ref. 34181] is invalid, preoccupied by the neotype designation in Knight et al. 2014, Code Art. 75.4. •Valid as Tor mussullah (Sykes 1839) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:306 [ref. 20764], Jayaram 1997:48 [ref. 23452], Yadav 2000:41 [ref. 25661], Yadav 2003:15 [ref. 27711], Kurup & Radhakrishnan 2011:228 [ref. 31585], Khare et al. 2014:[3] [ref. 33361], Hoang et al. 2015:554 [ref. 33936]). •Valid as Hypselobarbus mussullah (Sykes 1839) -- (Menon 1999:80 [ref. 24904] as musullah, Knight et al. 2013:202 [ref. 33021], Knight et al. 2014:280 [ref. 34128], Arunachalam et al. 2016:4 [ref. 34181] with date 1838, Arunachalam et al. 2016:105 [ref. 34190], Arunachalam et al. 2016:76 [ref. 34522], Knight et al. 2016:326 [ref. 34872], Bleher 2018:568 [ref. 36647]). Holotype: MSUMNH 94. Paratypes: CMA, ZSI/SRC. •Synonym of Hypselobarbus mussullah (Sykes 1839) based on placement of paratype ZSI/SRC F.8759 (which is also the neotype of Barbus mussullah Sykes 1839) -- (Knight et al. 2016:325 [ref. 34872]). •Valid as Hypselobarbus pseudomussullah Arunachalam, Chinnaraja & Mayden 2016 -- (Arunachalam et al. 2016:76 [ref. 34522]). Current status: Synonym of Hypselobarbus mussullah (Sykes 1839). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: Nethravathi and Thunga Rivers, Karnataka, and Krishna River, Maharashtra, India (if valid). Habitat: freshwater.
