Paralectotypes: USNM 22831 (1 of 2). Lectotype established (as figured specimen) in caption to Pl. 73, p. 3247 under Sardinella humeralis in Jordan & Evermann 1900 [ref. 2446] if figured specimen is identifiable. •Valid as Harengula pensacolae Goode & Bean 1879 -- (Villa 1982:88 [ref. 36708]). •Synonym of Harengula jaguana Poey 1865 -- (Lee et al. 1980:71 [ref. 22416], Whitehead 1985:65 [ref. 5141], Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:112 [ref. 24550], Munroe & Nizinski 2003:821 [ref. 26997], Faloh-Gandarilla et al. 2016:30 [ref. 35195]). Current status: Synonym of Harengula jaguana Poey 1865. Dorosomatidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
