carminifer, Macrurus Garman [S.] 1899:204, Pl. 46 (fig. 2) [Memoirs of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 24; ref. 1540] South of Gulf of Panama, 7°06'15"-7°30'36"N, 78°39'-80°50'W, Albatross stations 3353, 3354, 3393 and 3395, depth 322-1020 fathoms. Syntypes: MCZ 28582 (3 or 1), USNM 57860 (1). Original genus should have been Macrourus. •Valid as Coryphaenoides carminifer (Garman 1899) -- (Iwamoto & Sazonov 1988:42 [ref. 6228], Pequeño 1989:45 [ref. 14125] as carminatus, Iwamoto in Cohen et al. 1990:206 [ref. 18936], Iwamoto & Schneider in Fischer et al. 1995:1263 [ref. 22830], Pequeño 1997:81 [ref. 23536], Castellanos-Galindo et al. 2006:196 [ref. 28944], Robertson et al. 2017:54 [ref. 35676]). Current status: Valid as Coryphaenoides carminifer (Garman 1899). Macrouridae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Nicaragua to northern Peru, including Cocos Island. Habitat: marine.
