Jordan 1896:231 and 244 [ref. 2395] lists the type of this species as from Todos Santos Bay, but that locality is not one of the original ones. •Valid as Rimicola eigenmanni (Gilbert 1890) -- (Briggs 1955:76 [ref. 637], Eschmeyer & Herald 1983:110 [ref. 9277], Briggs 2002:442 [ref. 26018], Nelson et al. 2004:168 [ref. 27807], Love et al. 2005:159 [ref. 37547], Page et al. 2013:173 [ref. 32708], Kells et al. 2016:302 [ref. 35888], Love et al. 2021:202 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:152 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Rimicola eigenmanni (Gilbert 1890). Gobiesocidae: Gobiesocinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: southern California (U.S.A.) south to Pacific coast of southern Baja California Sur (Mexico). Habitat: marine.
