annobonensis, Platybelone argalus Collette [B. B.] & Parin [N. V.] 1970:33, Fig. 4 [Atlantide Report No. 11; ref. 7415] Annobón Island, Equatorial Guinea, Gulf of Guinea [eastern Atlantic]. Holotype: USNM 201500. Paratypes: MNHN 1965-0591 (26 or 27), UF [ex UMML 21700] (5), USNM 202715 [ex 201500] (orig. 14, now 12, 2 to N.V. Parin), ZIN 41572 [ex USNM 202715, ? from Parin] (?1). Type catalog: Collette et al. 1992:4 [ref. 19410], Collette et al. 1997:9 [ref. 22813]. •Synonym of Platybelone argalus (Lesueur 1821), but a valid subspecies annobonensis as described -- (Parin 1973:260 [ref. 7191], Collette & Parin 1990:594 [ref. 16473], Afonso et al. 1999:83 [ref. 25466], Gasparini & Floeter 2001:1643 [ref. 25634], Collette 2003:4, 13 [ref. 27306], Collette 2016:2121, 2124 [ref. 34601]). •Valid as Platybelone annobonensis Collette & Parin 1970 -- (Wirtz et al. 2007:28 [ref. 30263]). Current status: Synonym of Platybelone argalus (Lesueur 1821). Belonidae. Distribution: Eastern Atlantic: Bioco and Annobón (Equatorial Guinea) to São Tomé and Príncipe [if valid]. Habitat: brackish, marine.
