Holotype: AMS (lost). •Valid as Maccullochella peelii (Mitchell 1838) -- (MacDonald 1978:692 [ref. 28746], Cadwallader & Backhouse 1983:101 [ref. 25473] as peeli, Paxton et al. 1989:512 [ref. 12442], Musyl & Keenan 1992:1598 [ref. 21991], Rowland 1993:133 [ref. 20841], Harris & Rowland in McDowall 1996:158 [ref. 22909], Unmack 2001:1062 [ref. 25797], Hutchins 2001:29 [ref. 25847], Paxton et al. 2006:1042 [ref. 28995], Nock et al. 2010:980 [ref. 30979], Hammer et al. 2012:64 [ref. 32389]). •Valid as Maccullochella peelii (Mitchell 1838), subspecies peeli (Mitchell 1838) -- (Allen et al. 2002:194 [ref. 25930], Hammer & Walker 2004:88 [ref. 28129], Larson et al. 2013:104 [ref. 32988] as peeli, Kuiter 2018:62 [ref. 36369]). Current status: Valid as Maccullochella peelii (Mitchell 1838). Percichthyidae. Distribution: Southern Australia: Murray-Darling River system of South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales. Habitat: freshwater.
