Holotype: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 164. Paratypes: SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 795 (7), SMF 9503 (1). •Valid as Pseudochromis dutoiti Smith 1955 -- (Lubbock 1975:142 [ref. 7439], Lubbock 1977:4 [ref. 7039], Smith 1986:540 [ref. 5712], Randall 1995:141 [ref. 22896], Gill 2004:101 [ref. 27767], Heemstra & Heemstra 2004:177 [ref. 28072], Gill & Zajonz 2011:19 [ref. 31637], Fricke et al. 2018:160 [ref. 35805], Gill 2022:137 [ref. 39748]). Current status: Valid as Pseudochromis dutoiti Smith 1955. Pseudochromidae: Pseudochrominae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: South Africa, East Africa (Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya), Seychelles and Madagascar east to Pakistan. Habitat: marine.
