Current status: Valid as Naso elegans (Rüppell 1829). Acanthuridae. Distribution: Red Sea, Indian Ocean: East Africa, KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), Socotra, Seychelles, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Andaman Sea and western Indonesia, excluding the northwestern Indian Ocean. Habitat: marine.
