Paratypes: BPBM 6685-87 (1, 3, 1), 6689 (5); CAS 24690 (5); LACM 6560-11 (4); USNM 204382 (2). •Valid as Abudefduf rapanui Greenfield & Hensley 1970 -- (Pequeño 1989:62 [ref. 14125] in 2 places). •Valid as Chrysiptera rapanui (Greenfield & Hensley 1970) -- (Pequeño 1989:63 [ref. 14125] as rapannui, Paulin et al. 1989:199 [ref. 24556], Allen 1991:243 [ref. 19344], Francis 1993:163 [ref. 25479], Francis et al. 1999:577 [ref. 24249], Allen & Bailey 2002:42 [ref. 26525], Allen et al. 2015:18 [ref. 33797], Duffy & Ahyong 2015:116 [ref. 36167], Stewart et al. 2015:1418 [ref. 34288], Parenti 2021:62 [ref. 38418]). Current status: Valid as Chrysiptera rapanui (Greenfield & Hensley 1970). Pomacentridae: Pomacentrinae. Distribution: South Pacific: northern New Zealand, Kermadec Islands; Easter Island. Habitat: marine.
