Paratypes: (several) AMS I.16280-001 [ex MAMU F225a] (3). Type catalog: Stanbury 1969:205 [ref. 19518]. Combined with a masculine genus, the adjective should be niger. •Valid as Synaptura nigra Macleay 1880 -- (Kuiter 1993:391 [ref. 23929], Gomon et al. 1994:861 [ref. 22532], Kuiter 1997:384 [ref. 25488], Johnson 1999:752 [ref. 25471], Hoese & Bray 2006:1845 [ref. 29000]). •Valid as Brachirus nigra (Macleay 1880) -- (Gomon 2008:818 [ref. 30616]). •Valid as Brachirus niger (Macleay 1880) -- (Gomon 2008:818 [ref. 30616]). Current status: Valid as Brachirus niger (Macleay 1880). Soleidae. Distribution: Southwestern Pacific: southern Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria (Australia). Habitat: brackish, marine.
