The SMF specimen recognized as a provisional lectotype (Rainboth 1985:28 [ref. 5968]). •In genus Neolissochilus -- (Rainboth 1985:27 [ref. 5968]). •Synonym of Tor tor (Hamilton 1822) -- (Menon 1992:225 [ref. 20679], Menon 1999:61 [ref. 24904]). •Valid as Neolissochilus hexastichus (McClelland 1839) -- (Talwar & Jhingran 1991:230 [ref. 20764], Sen 1995:510 [ref. 23778], Doi 1997:8 [ref. 22832], Karmakar 2000:28 [ref. 25662], Lasker et al. 2013:3 [ref. 32883], Kottelat 2013:127 [ref. 32989], Arunachalam et al. 2017:4 [ref. 35058] as hexasticus, Lalramliana et al. 2018:[3] [ref. 35912], Dahanukar et al. 2023:149 [ref. 39963]). Current status: Valid as Neolissochilus hexastichus (McClelland 1839). Cyprinidae: Torinae. Distribution: Southern Asia: India. Habitat: freshwater.
