Holotype (unique): BMNH 1965.11.6.2. •Valid as Oxymetopon compressus Chan 1966 -- (Ikeda et al. 2000:2 [ref. 25036], Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:640 [ref. 25122], Nakabo 2000:1262 [ref. 25182], Nakabo 2002:1262 [ref. 26193], Allen & Adrim 2003:61 [ref. 26830], Allen & Erdmann 2012:994 [ref. 31980], Prokofiev 2016:135 [ref. 34651] as compressum, Koeda & Ho 2019:87 [ref. 36584], Ragul et al. 2024:126 [ref. 41189]). Current status: Valid as Oxymetopon compressus Chan 1966. Gobiidae: Ptereleotrinae. Distribution: Eastern Indian Ocean, western Pacific: southern India; Indonesia and Gulf of Thailand east to Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands (Japan), south to northern Queensland (Australia). Habitat: marine.
