Type catalog: Nielsen 1974:59 [ref. 9588]. •Valid as Melamphaes laeviceps Ebeling 1962 -- (Pequeño 1989:52 [ref. 14125], Kotlyar 1996:273 [ref. 23292], Kotlyar 1999:452 [ref. 24875], Kotlyar 2004:2 [ref. 27590], Love et al. 2005:67 [ref. 37547], Mundy 2005:297 [ref. 28379], Kotlyar 2014:633 [ref. 33889], Kotlyar 2016:252 [ref. 34507], Kotlyar 2016:388 [ref. 35038], Love et al. 2021:97 [ref. 39279], Page et al. 2023:105 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Melamphaes laeviceps Ebeling 1962. Melamphaidae. Distribution: Tropical central and eastern Pacific: central California (U.S.A.) south to Chile. Habitat: marine.
