abrau, Harengula Maliatsky [S.] 1930:65 [Azovsko-Chernomorskogo nauchno-issledovatel'skii instituta. Sta. v. 6; ref. 17202] Lake Abrau, near Novorossiysk, Russia. Syntypes: ZIN 22043 (7, missing in 1993). ZISP 28351 was designated as lectotype by Svetovidov 1952:208 [ref. 21481] but it was not part of the original type series (N. Chernova, pers. comm.) •Valid as Clupeonella abrau (Maliatsky 1930) -- (Berg 1948:166 [ref. 12882], Whitehead 1985:51 [ref. 5141], Mogil'chenko 1991:45 [ref. 24826], Reshetnikov et al. 1997:728 [ref. 24702], Dorofeeva 1998:29 [ref. 23573], Bogutskaya et al. 2001:43 [ref. 26178], Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:37 [ref. 28183], Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:75 [ref. 29996], Dyldin et al. 2020:103, 111 [ref. 37569], Dyldin et al. 2022:[16] [ref. 39193], Çiçek et al. 2023:331 [ref. 40625]). Current status: Valid as Clupeonella abrau (Maliatsky 1930). Ehiravidae. Distribution: Eastern Europe: Lake Abrau (Russia) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
