Current status: Valid as Siphamia mossambica Smith 1955. Apogonidae: Apogoninae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: South Africa, East Africa and Oman to Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius (western Mascarenes). Habitat: marine.
