Paralectotypes: MNRJ 12318 (4). Based on Raia erinacea of Miranda Ribeiro 1907:176. Lectotype selected by Carvalho & Figueiredo 1994:1032 [ref. 22428]. •Synonym of Psammobatis rutrum Jordan 1890 -- (McEachran 1983:58 [ref. 5382]). •Valid as Psammobatis extenta (Garman 1913) -- (Carvalho & Figueiredo 1994:1029 [ref. 22428], McEachran & Dunn 1998:286 [ref. 23312], Compagno 1999:489 [ref. 25589], Menni & Stehmann 2000:87 [ref. 24909], López et al. 2002:62 [ref. 26808], Gomes & Gadig in Menezes et al. 2003:29 [ref. 27192], Weigmann 2016:100 [ref. 34211], Last et al. 2016:24 [ref. 34941], Last et al. 2016:457 [ref. 35005], Nión et al. 2016:23 [ref. 35565]). Current status: Valid as Psammobatis extenta (Garman 1913). Arhynchobatidae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic: Brazil to Argentina. Habitat: marine.
