Current status: Valid as Hyphessobrycon panamensis Durbin 1908. Characidae: Stethaprioninae. Distribution: Bejuco, Boquerón, Calovébora, Chagres and Lllano Succio River basins, and in the Canal Zone, Panama (both Atlantic and Pacific versants). Habitat: freshwater.
