corti, Schizodon fasciatum Schultz [L. P.] 1944:269, Figs. 30-31a [Proceedings of the United States National Museum v. 95 (no. 3181); ref. 3960] Río Palmar near Totuma, about 100 kilometers southwest of Maracaibo, Venezuela. Holotype: USNM 121300. Paratypes: MCZ 37224 [ex USNM 121307] (2); MHNG [ex USNM 121301] (1); UMMZ 145024 [ex USNM 121307] (5); USNM 121301 (orig. 4, now 3), 121302 (orig. 4, now 3), 121303-06 (1, 2, 5, 10), USNM 121307 (orig. 15, now 8); ZMA 102118 [ex USNM 121302] (1). Type catalog: Nijssen et al. 1982:24 [ref. 19236], Vari & Howe 1991:39 [ref. 19022]. Schizodon is masculine, so fasciatus is correct. •Synonym of Schizodon fasciatum Spix & Agassiz 1829, but a valid subspecies as described -- (Galvis et al. 1997:33 [ref. 23651]). •Valid as Schizodon corti Schultz 1944 -- (Vari & Raredon 1991:13 [ref. 19023], Garavello & Britski in Reis et al. 2003:80 [ref. 27061], DoNascimiento et al. 2017:40 [ref. 35633], Garavello et al. 2021:21 [ref. 38879]). •Synonym of Schizodon fasciatus Spix & Agassiz 1829 -- (Birindelli 2024:67 [ref. 40817]). Current status: Valid as Schizodon corti Schultz 1944. Anostomidae. Distribution: South America: Lake Maracaibo basin, Venezuela and Colombia. Habitat: freshwater.
