Syntypes: (several) NMW 65336 (1), 65345 (1). Type catalog: Ferraris et al. 2017:[14] [ref. 35236]. Current status: Valid as Sternarchorhynchus mormyrus (Steindachner 1868). Apteronotidae: Apteronotinae. Distribution: South America: Amazon and Orinoco river basins (Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela). Habitat: freshwater.
