jacobusboehlkei, Barbus Fowler [H. W.] 1958:11 [Notulae Naturae (Philadelphia) No. 310; ref. 1470] Huey Melin, a branch of the Menam Mao, northern Thailand. Holotype (unique): USNM 119452. Originally as jacobus-boehlkei. Replacement name for Puntius simus H. M. Smith 1945, secondarily preoccupied in Barbus by Barbus (Systomus) simus Sauvage & Dabry de Thiersant 1874. •Synonym of Systomus orphoides (Valenciennes 1842) -- (Rainboth 1996:104 [ref. 22772]). •Valid as Puntius jacobusboehlkei (Fowler 1958) -- (Doi 1997:11 [ref. 22832], Kottelat 1998:49 [ref. 23436], Freyhof et al. 2000:95 [ref. 25184], Kottelat 2001:74 [ref. 25780], Kottelat 2013:166 [ref. 32989]). •Valid as Barbodes jacobusboehlkei (Fowler 1958) -- (Kottelat 2015:40 [ref. 33971]). •Valid as Systomus jacobusboehlkei (Fowler 1958) -- (Taki et al. 2021:127 [ref. 39830]). Replacement Name. Current status: Valid as Systomus jacobusboehlkei (Fowler 1958). Cyprinidae: Smiliogastrinae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Mekong and Chao Phraya River basins, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Habitat: freshwater.
