Holotype (unique): USNM 32762. •Valid as Urophycis floridana (Bean & Dresel 1884) -- (Robins & Ray 1986:95 [ref. 23100], Cohen in Cohen et al. 1990:86 [ref. 18936], Cervigón 1991:162 [ref. 24472], Boschung 1992:73 [ref. 23239], McEachran & Fechhelm 1998:759 [ref. 23897] as floridanus, Castro-Aguirre et al. 1999:166 [ref. 24550], Iwamoto & Cohen 2003:1012 [ref. 27011], Nelson et al. 2004:93 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:93 [ref. 32708], Lemes et al. 2016:507 [ref. 34265], Bagley et al. 2023:317 [ref. 41241], Page et al. 2023:103 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Urophycis floridana (Bean & Dresel 1884). Phycidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Cape Hatteras (North Carolina) south to Florida (U.S.A.), including northern and western Gulf of Mexico. IUCN (2017): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
