Paralectotypes: ANSP 2726-47 (22), 2904-06 (3), 3039-44 (6), 4160-61 (2), 7589 (1). Type catalog: Gilbert 1978:78 [ref. 7042], Böhlke 1984:90 [ref. 13621], Gilbert 1998:145 [ref. 23395]. Böhlke recognized a holotype as the specimen figured by Cope and isolated by Fowler as the specimen forming the basis of the description; it is here (W. N. E.) designated lectotype. •Valid as Notropis scabriceps (Cope 1868) -- (Gilbert 1978:78 [ref. 7042], Lee et al. 1980:305 [ref. 22416], Page & Burr 1991:134 [ref. 18983], Jenkins & Burkhead 1994:413 [ref. 21581], Stauffer et al. 1995:138 [ref. 23376], Gilbert 1998:145 [ref. 23395], Gilbert 1998:145 [ref. 23395], Nelson et al. 2004:75 [ref. 27807], Scharpf 2005:32 [ref. 28940], Page & Burr 2011:260 [ref. 31215], Page et al. 2013:76 [ref. 32708]). Current status: Valid as Notropis scabriceps (Cope 1868). Leuciscidae: Pogonichthyinae. Distribution: Eastern U.S.A.: West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. Habitat: freshwater.
